Established in 1991, National Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational English medium institution located in a serene setting on Nehru Salai, near Kathipara Junction, St. Thomas Mount. Affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Board of Matriculation Schools, it offers classes from Pre-KG to Std XII. The school came under the administration of EMPEE Educational & Charitable Trust on 21.10.2002, an organization renowned for managing quality educational institutions. Governed by an autonomous body chaired by Mr. M.P. Purushothaman and with Mrs. Sheena Purushothaman Adarsh as the Correspondent, the school provides focused education in science subjects, including Biology. As Trustee of EMPEE Educational & Charitable Trust, Mrs. Aruna Purushothaman plays a pivotal role in advancing the Trust’s mission to empower students through quality education. Mrs. Sheena Purushothaman Adarsh serves as the Correspondent and Secretary of the Empee Educational Trust, which oversees National Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Since 2005, she has led the institution with dedication, offering quality, affordable education to over 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Higher Secondary. Under her leadership, the school has maintained a low fee structure while integrating modern technology, such as Smart Classes with Digiboards and an English Laboratory, to enrich the learning experience. Known for her progressive vision and effective management, Mrs. Sheena Purushothaman Adarsh is widely respected for her commitment to educational excellence and the holistic development of every child.
Dr. K. Alphonse Maria Arulraj, M.A., M.Ed., PGDTE, Ph.D., has served as Principal of National Matriculation Higher Secondary School since October 2005. With over 40 years of teaching experience and administrative roles in Anglo-Indian and Aided Higher Secondary Schools in Chennai, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the institution. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Madras in 2002 for his research on “Management Behaviour, Leadership Behaviour, and Quality in Education.” A strong advocate of discipline as the foundation of education, Dr. Alphonese Maria Arulraj is committed to holistic student development and inspires students to live by the school’s motto: “Strive, Achieve, and Serve.”
