Our History
Established in 1991, National Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational English medium institution located in a serene setting on Nehru Salai, near Kathipara Junction, St. Thomas Mount. Affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Board of Matriculation Schools, it offers classes from Pre-KG to Std XII. The school came under the administration of EMPEE Educational & Charitable Trust on 21.10.2002, an organisation renowned for managing quality educational institutions. Governed by an autonomous body chaired by Mr. M.P. Purushothaman and with Mrs. Sheena Purushothaman Adarsh as the Correspondent, the school provides focused education across all subjects. A well-stocked library with a wide range of age-appropriate books further nurtures a strong reading culture among students.

Through the Trust, he champions education for the underprivileged, firmly believing that hard work and honesty are the cornerstones of true success.

Correspondent & SecretaryMrs. Sheena Purushothaman Adarsh serves as the Correspondent and Secretary of the Empee Educational Trust. Since 2005, she has led the institution with dedication, offering quality, affordable education to over 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Higher Secondary. Under her leadership, the school has maintained a low fee structure while integrating modern technology such as Smart Classes with Digiboards and an English Laboratory to enrich the learning experience.
Dr. K. Alphonse Maria Arulraj M.A., M.Ed., PGDTE., Ph.D
PrincipalDr. K. Alphonse Maria Arulraj, M.A., M.Ed., PGDTE, Ph.D., has served as Principal since October 2005. With over 40 years of teaching experience and administrative roles in Anglo-Indian and Aided Higher Secondary Schools in Chennai, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the institution. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Madras in 2002. A strong advocate of discipline as the foundation of education, he inspires students to live by the school's motto: "Strive, Achieve, and Serve."
